Language Arts
We just completed Chapter 15. Students will be taking a mastery test, and will be allowed to use a "cheat sheet" (notes thaye have taken in class).
Reading
We are reading The Winter of the Red Snow, and will have a short vocabulary and elements of plot quiz over it tomorrow.

Language Arts
We completed Chapter 14, and will be taking a test over it on Thursday, Feb 2nd. We will be completing our Great American Mail Race letters this week. Students will need to bring a section of newspaper with comic strips to complete a quotation assignment.
Reading
We began our historical fiction book unit. We will be reading "The Winter of the Red Snow." We will also begin creating poetry portfolios this week.

We identified and reviewed punctuation for letters. We practicing writing and proofreading letters. If students did not complete in class, they will need to finish it for homework.
Reading
We defined vocabulary definitons for "Elizabeth I," and we also began reading the story.

Language Arts
We completed a test over Chapter 3 on verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and interjections. Students prepared by making a "cheat sheet" index card to assist them in completing the test.
Reading
We read "Hearts and Hands" on pg 239-242, and answered comprehension questons about the story.

We started spelling lesson 11 on adjective suffixes. We are working on prepositions and prepositional phrases (pgs 104-107).

We identified the different types of point of view, and completed vocabulary for this week's story, "Names/ Nombres" (pgs 393-399).

Language Arts
We are working on prefixes, root words, and suffixes this week. Diorama book reports are due on Monday, November 21st and Tuesday, November 22nd. We will devote some class time on Thursday, November 17th to complete our projects.
Reading
We are reading the essay, "Fish Cheeks," and working on dictionary skills. We will have a test on "Fish Cheeks" on Friday, November 18th.
